In Memory of Audrey Crain Alley

On June 28, 2008, I delivered one of the hardest and most important speeches of my life: a eulogy in tribute of my grandmother, Audrey Crain Alley. Today, on her birthday, I thought I would finally make public the speech I designed 2 years ago in her honor.

  1. Wow, Dr. McArthur, this is beautiful – reading it brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful, touching speech and im sure the delivery was even more moving. Your grandmother was a very special woman.

    • Thanks Ariel.

You’re right that reading the speech out of context can only give you a glimpse of its impact. I like to think that it made my grandmother proud.

  2. Hi Mac,

I agree with Ariel. It was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. Our grandmothers would have been friends. Her birthday is April 12th and I think I may have to “borrow” the poem and send to my family because I can hear my Grandma say those words too.

Your grandmother sounds AMAZING!!! What a special relationship you had with her!
